At the age of 25, I received the shock of my life when I was diagnosed with kidney disease. At the time I was a single mother to a three-year-old daughter. My world was rattled. Things got worse before they ever got better—I was also batting depression and addiction.
My road to recovery wasn’t easy but with strength and resilience I overcame hardship. One of the tools I credit for my sobriety is a dedicated yoga and mindfulness practice. I’ve been practicing yoga for over 15 years, became certified in 2011 and have been teaching ever since. In 2018 I underwent kidney transplant surgery and kept teaching with 5% kidney function right up until the surgery!
